College Counselor

An experienced independent college counselor with a background in education and corporate management, Amy combines a person-centered approach with a deep understanding of the college application process. She guides students in finding the best fit for their academic and professional aspirations.

Amy Carangelo is an independent college counselor who utilizes a person-centered approach in postsecondary planning. She personalizes the process to ensure clients feel seen and heard and aims to create a college search that aligns with each student’s personal and professional interests.

With over six years of experience as a high school counselor in Northern New Jersey’s public school system, Amy has a comprehensive understanding of the ever-changing and competitive nature of the college application process. She has worked with various student populations and facilitated 504 and IEP programming, which gives her a deeper understanding of support services. Amy recognizes that each student's educational journey is unique, and she approaches her work with both an academic and empathetic perspective, offering support during an understandably stressful time.

Before embarking on a career in education, Amy spent four years as a Project Manager in Corporate America. This experience honed her communication, executive, and organizational skills and gave her a unique understanding of the work-life balance challenges students and their families face.

Amy holds an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts with a concentration in Journalism from Ramapo College. She furthered her education by earning a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Montclair State University and is currently working toward obtaining her License in Professional Counseling. Amy's commitment to staying current in her field is demonstrated by her active membership in the New Jersey Association of College Counseling (NJACAC) and the Bergen County School Counselor Association (BCSCA).
